Going natural is starting to play a very important role in my life. I first started thinking about it when we hosted an event at our Childcare Service about 10 years ago. It was delivered by an inspiring woman called Hayley Wallace who had bought herself back to wellness from cancer using her natural and homeopathic remedies as well as bringing in oxygen, doing a parasitic cleanse and ridding her house of chemicals. She discussed at length the reasons why she did what she did and it impacted us all. The likes of how our grandmothers used baking soda and vinegar for almost everything ( and it worked) and only in the last 30-40 yrs or so with the advancement of commercialism we have shelves in supermarkets and online full of cleaning chemical products that are known and proven to cause all sorts of harm. It made us think about the dangers of what we had in our homes and childcare service and the effects, both immediate and long term on our children and the environment. We all went home and rid the house of chemicals and then bought this practice into our childcare service. Today I still make or buy chemical free products and I find if I am in ‘whiffs’ distance of chemicals products its irritating to my senses. Its not perfect by any means as I’m sure if you had a look you will find something, like nail polish remover and fly spray but I’m ok with it. If it wasn’t for this event I would have not made Beez Kneez for my Dad’s psoriasis and Gone Balmy would not have come about.
